This private residence is located on the hills above Zărnești, overlooking the old town in the valley and opening towards the dramatic southern backdrop of the Piatra Craiului Mountains. The project is conceived as a retreat that balances contemporary comfort with a deep connection to its natural and cultural surroundings.

Architectural Concept & Design

The design concept takes advantage of the site’s unique topography and panoramic views. Large openings frame the mountains and valley, while the house’s geometry follows the natural contours of the hillside. The architectural language combines clean, modern lines with warm, tactile materials, creating a residence that feels both rooted in place and open to its landscape.

Spatial Experience & Atmosphere

Inside, the house offers a sequence of light-filled spaces that blend intimacy with openness. Living areas are oriented toward the mountains, drawing nature into the daily experience, while private rooms provide quiet, sheltered retreats. The atmosphere is defined by simplicity, clarity, and a strong sense of belonging—an ideal refuge where modern living meets the timeless beauty of Zărnești’s hills.
